Rating: 7 / 10 Cravings are to be surrendered to. Having flown to Fort Kochi from Kuala Lumpur, as anyone knows the airport is a fair distance from the city, and those not rich enough to splurge on door-to-door services will inevitably spend the day soaked in panic and drenched in sweat whilst navigating corridors, alleys, busy streets, staircases and public transport, dragging along luggage, laptops, short tempers and usually an empty stomach.
Rating: 8 / 10 Uzan Bazaar has become quite the hive of activity of late. From it's decimated state just 15 years ago, plagued by dust and deafening neglect, like a phoenix it has arisen and turned it's feathers into a peacocks plumage. With boat trips heading off from the pier to the island of aforementioned name, it's well worth staying here instead of toiling in the purest of hells that is downtown Guwahati.
Rating: 9 / 10 My zeal for Indian food will never diminish until I'm six feet under and turned to worm food. Having said that, even in the holiest of holies, the motherland, you can still have some diabolical meals if you're unlucky. But if, like me, you have local friends who have your best interests at heart, who live and breathe for good food, good music and good films, then you'll navigate those pitfalls with suprising ease.
