"MSG IS OK WITH ME" Whilst thai women screamed in disbelief at nearby tables, shovelling food into their mouths at breakneck speed, we sat waiting on ours salivating. Sure enough, time moves slower when you're dying of hunger, but we were satiated in due course. First up came the Somtum, spicy as a firecracker and funky as James Brown. Next up a vegetarian version of Green Curry, spicier still and tasty as hell. Sipping became a fight to spoon the last drops of glory from the fast disappearing bowl. Next up the Laab, fragrant, spicy, citrus-laden, sticky rice puffing steam when the lid was tapped, achingly addictive and comforting. Rumour has it that they heavy hand the MSG here, but if the food tastes as good as it does, I don't give a flying fuck. These recommendations are just personal opinions based on my palate, things change, chefs get fired or replaced, places open-close, relocate, so take it all with a pinch of MSG and discover your own gems too. But please do try a few of these, they have been researched exhaustively.
