"Lines Worth Waiting For" Recommended to within an inch of it's life, we headed here on a Saturday night (epic fail) only to be told we'd have to wait an hour at least. Names were put on lists and off to a nearby spot we went to wait it out. Returning after 45 minutes we were seated and orders were thrown into the kitchen. The food came out at lightning speed, but I guess Larb is usually served room temperature anyway. It was superb. Not the best Larb ever, but damn well good. Whatever this jungle curry with chicken (bones) was, it tasted divine. Spicy, sour, salty, packed with umami. There was precious little meat on the bones as often is the case with such local delights, but I'd order this again in a heartbeat. A friend ordered a Pad Kha Prao and it too was a really good version. We also smashed some omelette and an eggplant thing that wasn't really a triumph. Overall tho the food at Huen Muan Jai is worth waiting for, but don't be like us and go late on a Saturday. These recommendations are just personal opinions based on my palate, things change, chefs get fired or replaced, places open-close, relocate, so take it all with a pinch of MSG and discover your own gems too. But please do try a few of these, they have been researched exhaustively.
