"Heaven Is Here" JHOL is a restaurant I had been meaning to go to since forever. Due to certain small matters of a global pandemic that you may or may not have noticed, air travel to Asia was off the cards for most of the past 3 years, but I finally made it through the hallowed doors. The service was impeccable. The kind that moves swiftly but not noticeably. You turn from conversation to see your water glass being refilled before you even motioned. The food, oh, the food... Poems could (and should) be written about their signature mutton shank curry. It falls away from the bone with purpose. The curry gravy is thick and rich and decadent and mildly spiced. The cauliflower starter, the gunpowder naan, the dhal, the amouse-bouche, all sang together from the same choir. This is truly a triumph in the Bangkok dining scene, and one place that should be on every food-forward persons itinerary when tackling the unpredictable beast that is Bangkok. These recommendations are just personal opinions based on my palate, things change, chefs get fired or replaced, places open-close, relocate, so take it all with a pinch of MSG and discover your own gems too. But please do try a few of these, they have been researched exhaustively.
