"Local Dives" Situated 100m from my hotel, this became my default at night when I couldn't brace the Bangkok traffic any longer. I ate here 4 times, tasting different dishes each time, and every single one was dynamite. I noticed the long lines of locals grabbing take-away from here the first night and made a mental note to try it. Like clock-work every night I'd order, there would be a constant roll up of scooters grabbing plastic bags and hurrying off. The locals knew something was up, and I'm glad I paid attention. The staples like fried rice, pork with holy basil are all great. Their green curry with chicken is one of the better I tasted in Bangkok, and the clear spicy soup with chicken knocked my socks off. Super friendly people, cheap food, great option if you're living nearby and don't want to spend time in traffic. These recommendations are just personal opinions based on my palate, things change, chefs get fired or replaced, places open-close, relocate, so take it all with a pinch of MSG and discover your own gems too. But please do try a few of these, they have been researched exhaustively.
