"Pork vs Chook" Being ignorant of Chicken bone ramen until a few years ago, it was something I had treated with an awful amount of unfounded suspicion. Without any grounds for judgement, I dismissed it as a poor attempt to give non-pork eaters a taste of ramen. How wrong I was. Wandering around a mall at midday I noticed Marutama in the far corner and decided to challenge my perceptions for a change. Secretly hoped I was correct in my assumptions, but open to change if proven wrong. My bowl arrived smelling divine. I dove in spoon-shakingly quick, almost forgetting to photograph. Within seconds I was ashamed of my own prejudice and silently apologised to the bowl in secret. This was a triumph of rich umami soup, tender chicken, well-cooked noodles and a nicely prepared egg. Absolutely nothing to complain about here, and about time I return come to think of it...... These recommendations are just personal opinions based on my palate, things change, chefs get fired or replaced, places open-close, relocate, so take it all with a pinch of MSG and discover your own gems too. But please do try a few of these, they have been researched exhaustively.
