Rating: 7 / 10 Two blocks from home I noticed pizza being delivered to my local butcher shop. If there's one thing I've learn't is that people who work in quality establishments usually have good taste, so I decided to follow the delivery man and find out where it came from. The answer was Taverna Luciana. I had already eaten two pizzas, one solid and one phenomenally terrible (Port Alba), but I still had room for at least one slice so I ordered a Margherita take-away and could eat the rest for breakfast. Entering Taverna Luciana I found it a charming, typical local eatery full of families and friendly staff. I got a couple of stares, but I assume they're not used to English speaking men with long hair, dressed all in black. Pizza in hand I walked across the road to take my photos, then stopped at the nearest private spot to sample. Immediately I knew what all the fuss was about. It had that wonderful "wok-hei" of a super hot oven where the crust is coated in furnace adoration. Having had a rather sour sauce earlier in the day, this one was spot on and balanced. There was slightly more cheese than most Neopolitan places, but that's hardly a negative. I love knowing that on a random street in a random area of Rione Sanita you can find such fantastic pizza's by just following a delivery man and trusting the tastes of your local charcuterie experts! These recommendations are just personal opinions based on my palate, things change, chefs get fired or replaced, places open-close, relocate, so take it all with a pinch of MSG and discover your own gems too. But please do try a few of these, they have been researched exhaustively.
